Other Microsoft software products for the 2007 DST changes

For many of the Microsoft products affected by the 2007 daylight saving time change, the most recent versions will not require an update. However, earlier versions of these products will require an update, as shown below. Find more information on Microsoft Support Lifecycle.

Outlook

Microsoft Office Outlook 2007: The Outlook Time Zone Data Update tool is not required but highly recommended because the tool includes numerous improvements (see KB article 931667 for details).

Microsoft Office Outlook 2003, Microsoft Outlook XP and Microsoft Outlook 2000: If you are running Outlook 2003, Outlook 2002, or Outlook 2000 in a non-Microsoft Exchange Server IT environment, you will need to run the Outlook Time Zone Data Update tool after the applicable Windows updates are downloaded by you or your IT administrator. The tool is currently available from the Microsoft Download Center. For more information, see KB article 931667.

Exchange Server

Microsoft Exchange Server 2007: No update needed.

Microsoft Exchange Server 2003 Service Pack 2: If you an IT administrator running Microsoft Exchange Server in your IT environment, you will need to take additional measures to ensure the proper operation of Exchange Server and to aid in adjusting Outlook calendar items. Update now available through CSS, Microsoft Update, the Microsoft Download Center or through KB article 926666.

Microsoft Exchange Server 2003 Service Pack 1: If you an IT administrator running Microsoft Exchange Server in your IT environment, you will need to take additional measures to ensure the proper operation of Exchange Server and to aid in adjusting Outlook calendar items. Update now available through CSS, Microsoft Update, the Microsoft Download Center or through KB article 931978.

Microsoft Exchange Server 2000/Exchange Conferencing Server 2000: Updates are available now. Exchange Server 2000 is under Extended Support. For more information on Extended Hotfix Support Agreements, please refer to Option #2 on this Lifecycle Announcement web site.

Microsoft Exchange Server 2003 Lotus Notes Connector: Download available at the Microsoft Download Center .

Exchange versions out of mainstream support without EHSA or CSA: No workaround or update available.

Exchange Update tool: The Exchange Time Zone Update tool will allow IT administrators to apply the time zone update in "silent mode" to a set of chosen mailboxes on the Exchange server. The Exchange Time Zone Update tool only works on server-side calendars (that is, any local calendars that a user might have can only be updated by the Outlook Time Zone Update tool). The Exchange Time Zone Update tool will be available in early February.

Windows SharePoint Services

Windows SharePoint Services 3.0: No update needed.

Windows SharePoint Services 2.0: A single global time zone update including changes for the United States and Canada DST change is available now via the Microsoft Download Center and on Jan 29 through Microsoft Update. (Windows SharePoint Services update does not include new Mexico time zones.) For more information, see KB articles 924881 and 888253.

SQL Server Notification Services

SQL Server 2005 Notification Services and SQL Server 2000 Notification Services: Update is currently available. See KB article 931815.

Office Live Meeting

To update Office Live Meeting:

  1. Install the Windows DST update on all affected Windows-based computers. Windows Vista requires no update because the new daylight saving time rules are already included. For more information, please visit the Daylight Saving Time Help and Support Center
  2. If you are running Office Outlook (2007, 2003, XP, 2000), install the Time Zone Data Update Tool for Microsoft Office Outlook that is available at http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?familyid=e343a233-b9c8-4652-9dd8-ae0f1af62568.
  3. The first two updates correct the Windows time zone definitions and adjust the Office Outlook calendar items.
  4. Starting on March 3, 2007, after Microsoft has applied an update to the Office Live Meeting service, meeting organizers should verify and adjust the start times and the end times of their meetings and, if it is necessary, resend all preexisting meeting invitations that fall within the affected time periods (March 11, 2007, 2:00 A.M. through April 1, 2007, 1:59 A.M. and October 28, 2007, 2:00 A.M. through November 4, 2007, 1:59 A.M.). This is to make sure that all invitees (internal and especially external) have the correct Outlook calendar items. In addition, the Meeting Entry Time Control Property for all rebased meetings will be changed from the default value of "attendees 30 min. early" to “Anyone Anytime,” so that meeting attendees will not be denied entry to the meeting, if the meeting start times and end times were accidentally not corrected. Be aware that any existing meeting entry security settings are not changed and that all meeting keys to gain entry are still required for attendees to attend meetings.

Important information for Live Meeting Outlook Add-in users:

  • If you are primarily an Outlook Add-in user, make sure that the Outlook rebasing tool be run against all meetings. Do not select the option to “modify only recurring appointments” because no add-in meetings will be rebased in that case. The Outlook Add-in only schedules one-time meetings.
  • If you have already run the Outlook rebasing tool against recurring meetings only, you may rerun the rebasing tool again against all meetings, and the add-in meetings will be rebased at that time.
  • Meeting updates cannot be sent to attendees for meetings that were created by using the Outlook add-in. Therefore, all Outlook add-in meeting organizers must manually send meeting updates to their attendees, after they, or their administrator, have run the Outlook/Exchange rebasing tool.
